This book used to be the documentation for GitBook and GitBook.com. Now the docs have been split:
- Help Center for general knowledge base. Source is here.
- Toolchain Documentation for complete documentation of GitBook format and tools. Source is in the official repository
This book contains the entire documentation for GitBook (gitbook.com and format).
Open Source Format
The toolchain (GitBook) is a tool for building beautiful books using Git and Markdown. It can generate your book in many formats: PDF, ePub, mobi or as a website.
It is open source, the source code of the tool is available on GitHub.
Issues and question related to the format and the toolchain should be posted on GitHub
GitBook.com is the online platform (www.gitbook.com) to create and host books built using the GitBook format.
Documentation for developers (API & Plugins) is accessible at developer.gitbook.com.
Setup guide and documentation for the enterprise version is accessible at help.enterprise.gitbook.com.
